The long anticipated “Tennessee: The Color of Crime” is finally here.
I had some assistance this time from an OD reader in the Volunteer State. We are going to take a look at statewide crime statistics before taking a closer look at crime in Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville.
Racial Breakdown
As you can see, Tennessee is unlike any of the other states and cities that we investigated so far.
White people are a greater share of the population in Tennessee than in Arizona, California, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Whites are 75.6 percent of the population. African-Americans are 16.7 percent.

Racial Breakdown: Tennessee Poverty
In 2009, 17 percent of Whites, 34 percent of African-Americans, 34 percent of Hispanics, and 33 percent of “Other” are listed as falling below the poverty line.
Immediately, we can see that African-Americans and Hispanics are more likely to be poor than Whites, but this doesn’t explain Tennessee crime statistics.
Remember, Whites are 75.6 percent of the Tennessee population, African-Americans are 16.7 percent, and Hispanics are 4.6 percent. This means the total number of poor Whites is much higher than the combined total of poor African-Americans and Hispanics.
There are 821,500 poor Whites, 345,700 poor African-Americans, 94,100 poor Hispanics, and 51,100 poor people of “other races” in Tennessee out of 1,312,400 poor people in the Volunteer State.
Remember, African-Americans are 16.7 percent of the Tennessee population, and 26.3 percent of poor people in the Volunteer State.

The Hispanic Effect
Unfortunately, Tennessee is a Southern state that counts Hispanics as White in crime statistics. Thus, we are unable to see the Hispanic effect on violent crime in the same way that we can in California and Arizona.
Please keep this in mind.
Hispanics are 4.6 percent of the Tennessee population, but their effect on violent crime is invisible here, except for artificially inflating the White share of crime.
Homicide
Do you see anything unusual here?
African-Americans are 16.7 percent of the Tennessee population and 26.3 percent of poor people in Tennessee, but are responsible for 56.6 percent of the homicide.
Rape
African-Americans are 16.7 percent of the Tennessee population and 26.3 percent of poor people in Tennessee, but are responsible for 40.4 percent of the rape.
Robbery
African-Americans are 16.7 percent of the Tennessee population and 26.3 percent of poor people in Tennessee, but are responsible for 64.4 percent of the robbery.
Robbery is always black.
African-Americans like robbery more than any other type of crime. Correspondingly, DUIs are always White. African-Americans like to rob people. White people prefer to drink and drive.
Aggravated Assault
African-Americans are 16.7 percent of the Tennessee population and 26.3 percent of poor people in Tennessee, but are responsible for 41.3 percent of the aggravated assault.
This is one of those times when I really wish Hispanics were not being counted as White here. We know from other states like California and Arizona that Hispanics are really into aggravated assault.
As you can see, black people like aggravated assault too.
Burglary
African-Americans are 16.7 percent of the Tennessee population and 26.3 percent of poor people in Tennessee, but are responsible for 38.8 percent of the burglary.
Black people are into burglary as much as robbery. If I was forced speculate, I would say this probably has something to do with the spread of home security systems.
Conclusion
In Tennessee, as in every other state and city we have investigated, we have learned that African-Americans are overrepresented in violent crime, and that White people are underrepresented.
If violent crime was a reflection of poverty, then 62.2 percent of violent crime in Tennessee would be White, and 26.3 percent would be African-American. Sorry, not happening.
Unsurprisingly, it is not what we see here. The biological factors – race, sex, age, and intelligence – are far more explanatory than economic factors.
If there is any environmental factor that has a definite impact on violent crime, it is the season of the year, as violent crime rises in the summer and tapers off in the winter, as sure as night follows day.
Occidental Dissent is reporting that DWLs are liars. They claim there is no connection between race and crime. Sorry again DWLs, this is flatly untrue.
Not only is there a strong connection between race and crime, there is also a connection between crime and sex, crime and age, crime and appearance, crime and season of the year, and crime and education and intelligence.
What is the surest cure to violent crime? It is racial segregation and aging. As men grow older, they are less likely to become criminals, no matter what their socioeconomic status.

What I see are grown men in their twenties, thirties, even forties, refusing to grow up and take on the responsibilities of manhood. They dress and act like kindergartners, preschoolers. I see these same kind of people when I go to the mall or when I am going about my business. They are non productive and antisocial, a blight on civilization. I see grown men with their pants down around their butts with their underwear showing, wearing kid sneakers, and gold chains swinging from their necks. At what point do these people grow up?
Thanks for this article. I would love to share this information with my brother, who lives in Nashville, but I am not sure how to do it gently. He plans to move to Chicago in the fall and I am afraid that he will be traumatized by the culture shock. Maybe that’s a good thing, or maybe not. He was beaten up by a group of thugs he’d never even talked to in middle school over a decade ago–because he is white. He’s never gotten over it, but can’t put a reason as to why. I think if he just accepted that that group of people cannot help but act like animals he would get over it quicker, but maybe that is wishful thinking.
We want to find out who is behind the Nashville “homicide crisis” now.
Edwood – it sounds like you are dealing with the very issue that drives me “bonkers” on an almost daily basis – Whites who REFUSE to deal with Race, as causation. Try to fram these issue in a moral stance, with your brother. I’m normally as subtle as a flying brick; it’s my nature. Higher morality appeals to Whites. I try to frame things in issues about morality.

First of all, don’t let the name fool you. It’s a mix of my maiden/married names. I am a gal.
Unfortunately, we were all raised with a “we’re all God’s kids” mentality. Even though they knew we were in a middle school with rampant crime and urban thugs, they didn’t sufficiently warn or protect us from them. Two of my sisters and my brother have pinpointed that time as the most traumatic of their growing-up years. I can still remember the trauma of realizing that a whole group of people hated me and wanted to hurt me because I was white.
I was relatively sheltered within the school because I was in all “honors” classes, but there was still the restroom, cafeteria, gym, the bus, and outside the school. One vice-principal was stabbed during one of the DAILY fights. I was “goosed”, “keyed” (that’s where someone holds their keys out to scratch you in the hall), pushed, tripped, stolen from, and taunted. I was slapped, teased, and tormented daily by two “middle-class” popular blacks from 6th grade through 9th grade. My mother told me that I must have done something that offended them and to apologize.
I used to be very shy and quiet in school. No one would stand up to the girls because, besides being track stars, they were the daughters of a former Dallas Cowboy football player. Despite being “middle class”, they quickly joined in with the rest of the urban thugs in the school, joining in the fights, the sex in the locker room, etc. I just couldn’t understand it, it was all about poverty, wasn’t it? I lost track of the number of blacks that told me to “get a tan, you too white”. I mostly nodded and smiled because I couldn’t understand ebonics but didn’t want to get killed for saying “what?” again.
My brother, aside from being a liberal, is a very sensative, tender soul. He believes the best of people. I think I will just tell him that I love him and want to keep him safe. I think it is a mistake to move to Chicago from Nashville, especially since he is fresh out of college and still poor.

If you took neighborhoods that were 95% of a single ethnicity and had accurate crime stats for the neighborhood over a year, experienced cops from places that had the whole set of ethnicities e.g. New York, would be able to guess what the ethnicity was out of : black, white, hispanic, n/asian, everybody else (muslim) and everybody else (non-muslim) from the yearly crime stats for each neighborhood.
Thank God I found this article and the “interesting” comments. For a quick moment I was thinking about retirng to Tennessee but if this is an indication of the ignorant mentality of the people there…I am so glad that I found out prior to wasting my hard-earned money and time researching further. I understand you had a traumatic experience with some African American people but it is wrong to assume that a couple children reflect an entire POPULATION of people. Black and Latinos do not love crime. Some of the worst crime stories were committed by whites. Hitler,Charles Manson,Aileen Wuornos, the columbine shootings, Kennedy assassination and many more. What your “research” is based off of is a stereotype of the African Americans and Latinos, the stereotype that they are all gangsters,drug dealers, and prostitutes. So how can all blacks be gangsters when 54.3% of gang related murders have white offenders.

Crime is down in some areas due solely to changes in reporting. In Memphis, 78,000 crimes went unreported by police over a ten year period. No change in ‘policy’; just a measure undertaken by leadership to skew the horrid numbers. Dismal.

While Trayvon supporters ignore the most serious issues and wear his image on their T-shirts, the tragic rate of self inflicted crime in their own communities is staggering.

This IS about the tragicly high crime rate in the black community – its relative effect on the whole – and a reasoning as to why those numbers are so skewed to blacks. Participation in black churches provides some critical insight into the inner workings, or lack thereof, of the black community. The vast majority – in some cases 90% or more – of the membership thereof is comprised of black women. Black women RUN things in the black community. They are more responsible in the family unity, have more jobs, etc., etc. In a word: Fatherless. Too many reasons to address here, but the disconnect of the black male youth from civil obedience, respect for life, and self respect must be fundamentally addressed before any substantial change can be realized.
Ignoring the facts, denying the stats, defending an obviously invalid position is not going to change anything. Opening your eyes, getting to the root causes and understanding the problem is the ONLY hope for stopping these ongoing tragedies. Until the black community leaders stand up and step up, nothing is going to change. Where’s Jesse? Where’s Al? When Cosby speaks the truth, they attack him, once again side-stepping the issues. Newsflash: It’s not going to change from the government, or some other cultural leader – white or otherwise. So if race is a predictor of violence, I take it then that all of you that believe that blacks are violent due to their race believe that the centuries of white violence toward natives and blacks equates to whites being innately violent…yes?? Namehere is correct that race isn’t really the issue with violence, racial culture is. White culture used to include way too much violence; but not now. We can’t expect Blacks to become not black. But we can explore and seek to change Black culture which promotes irresponsible attitudes and behavior. And violence isn’t the main point of this article, crime is. Were Whites ever so criminal? Blacks were far more responsible 50 years ago than today. There is just no logical way to explain away Black misbehavior today with the wrongs committed against them a century and more ago. I think that in the 1960’s Black culture started to seek a comprehensive definition of ‘Blackness.’ At first there was a lot of good and freedom in that, but now the definition of ‘Blackness’ to often is simply ‘not White.’ Many Blacks are barred by their culture from behaving responsibly if responsibility is deemed ‘White.’
Blacks are notorious for being called thugs and gangsters, but the real MVPs (Most Violent People) are whites. Everyday in cities across the country, people die at the hands of white people. What’s more, they’re killing their own kind. According to the US Department of Justice statistics, 84 percent of white people killed every year are killed by other whites. In 2011, there were more cases of whites killing whites than there were of blacks killing blacks. Between 1980 to 2008, a majority (53.3 percent) of gang-related murders were committed by white people, with a majority of the homicide victims being white as well.
In America, whites commit the majority of crimes. What’s even more troubling is that they are also responsible for a vast majority of violent crimes. In 2013, whites led all other groups in aggravated assault, larceny-theft, arson, weapons-carrying, and vandalism. When it comes to sexual assault, whites take the forcible rape cake. They are also more likely to kill children, the elderly, family members, their significant others, and even themselves! They commit more sex-related crimes, gang related crimes, and are more likely to kill at their places of employment. In 2013, an estimated 10,076 people died in the U.S. due to drunk driving crashes. Driving while drunk is almost exclusively a white crime because everyone knows black people prefer to drink on their porches or inside their homes.
So why is white on white crime so prevalent, one may ask? Is it the music they listen to? Is it the white divorce rate, resulting in more white children coming from broken homes? Perhaps it’s the TV shows they watch or the violent sports they play. More than likely, it is a combination of all of those things, with the exact root cause unclear. What is clear, though, is that not enough people are talking about the crime plaguing the white community. We need to spread the word, holding protests and demonstrations that call attention to this growing matter. Because, after all—white lives matter, too.

Im glad Im black, because that means I can blame all of my problems on the white man and his culture for everything bad that happens to me.
After all, I have absolutely no control over the decisions I make in life. The white man has magical powers and can control my every move. I cant stand up and take responsibility for the evil things that me and my culture may do, because its not my fault that white people made me do it.
