We voted for Trump in 2016 to get rid of these people.
Donald Trump foolishly kept them around though. The GOP kept this woman around and gave her a prominent leadership post solely because her father was Dick Cheney. In the Republican Party, these people fail upwards like W. or ¡Jeb! based on their connections to the establishment.
“House Republicans ousted Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) as conference chair in a voice vote Wednesday, capping months of growing backlash over her criticisms of former President Trump, according to two sources in the room.
Why it matters: The stunning removal of the No. 3 House Republican over her condemnation of Trump’s election lies reflects the influence the former president still retains over the GOP. …”
Liz Cheney plans to fight for the “soul” of the Republican Party. In other words, this is all about the dying and discredited Republican establishment.
“As she faces a vote to be thrown out of House Republican leadership, Rep. Liz Cheney has told associates she doesn’t plan on going anywhere — and plans to run for re-election.
What to watch: In the meantime, as she sees it, she will aggressively pursue a fight for the soul of the Republican Party, after an expected vote to strip her of her role as GOP conference chair, the party’s No. 3 House post. …
Axios is told Cheney will take her case to the public with speeches and other appearances. Cheney and her team has been intentional about painting the stakes as higher than a squabble about a leadership job, but instead about truth and the future of the Republican Party. …”
It has nothing to do with Donald Trump.
He was the only available means to get rid of ¡Jeb!
This is about Iraq and Afghanistan. It should have happened way back in 2008.
BTW, Donald Trump, George W. Bush and ¡Jeb!, Dick Cheney and Liz Cheney, John McCain and Mitt Romney are really all gone. The deck is cleared for someone else to step forward and take the reins. I’m somewhat optimistic because there is a huge generational divide on the Right with people under the age of 45 seeing the world much more like we do. Older people have distinct views on taxes, spending and race.
Note: The Democrats have recently fallen in love with George W. Bush and Dick Cheney and Liz Cheney. Personally, I don’t see the attraction. I have consistently hated these people for almost 20 years now. They are more than welcome to have Bill Kristol, Max Boot, Nicolle Wallace, etc.
