    The Republican National Committee insists that it’s doing everything in its power to elect Donald Trump, but as Trump gets clobbered on the TV airwaves by his well-funded Democratic rival, the RNC has been conspicuously absent.
    A POLITICO analysis of campaign finance records reveals that the committee has not spent anything on commercials boosting Trump since he emerged as the party’s likely nominee.

    That’s a stark departure from recent elections. In 2008 and 2012, the RNC spent tens of millions of dollars on so-called independent expenditures — principally TV ads, but also direct mail and phone banks — supporting its nominees or attacking their Democratic rivals.

    “The Democrats have an unprecedented and lopsided advertising advantage in this race like we have never seen before, and it is having a serious and negative effect,” said Curt Anderson, a former RNC political director who is helping a pro-Trump super PAC, Rebuilding America Now. “It is possible that Trump has sealed his fate at this point, but it is still a terrible mistake not to have $50 million of advertising from the Republican Party exposing Hillary Clinton and keeping her numbers down,” said Anderson, who helped to lead the RNC’s independent expenditure effort in 2004 and 2008.

      • I watched about a quarter of it, bits and pieces. Even if Trump had no intention of calling out the Jews by name, or even loading coded language into the speech which he knew that the Jews would grok but nobody else would, the Jews aren’t going to take kindly to these words because they’re going to think he’s talking about them and lobbing spitballs at them.

        Remember, these are the people who got panicked because precisely 88 military generals, current or retired, have endorsed Trump, because of the 14/88 thing. I thought numerology was only for conspiracy kooks. Of course, the main reason Jews denounce conspiracy kooks is because they’re projecting.

    The reason I don’t has to do with something my father did when I was little.

    There was this TV show, an old one, and the opening theme was someone whistling. The opening title sequence showed some little boy with a fishing pole running barefoot down a dirt path. His father was behind him, he also had a fishing pole, but he was wearing shoes. My father would watch that show just to watch the opening theme, and he always made fun of them, especially the boy. I remember him saying: “After this, I bet they went out and filmed Deliverance. Extra fingers. Extra toes. Extra chromosome.”

    Populism means giving power to the Deliverance crowd of kids running around barefoot with fishing poles.

    I know it as well as anyone. It’s the corner of Cherokee and Iowa in south St. Louis. That particular area was a mainstream shopping hub for several decades, then degraded into a niche shopping hub, then the black undertow drove everything useful way, and now a small wave of immigration, mostly Hispanic, but others, combined with some arty-farty and far-left anarchist types setting up shop around there, has made that area a volatile mix, even if it has improved upon the blacks (and that’s not hard to do.) I am almost certain the man in the picture swinging the bat is one Bruce Franks, the newly elected state representative from that district, (so I’ll be running into him from time to time in the next session), and the irony is that he only won election because there was a do-over, because the black woman incumbent he was trying oust cheated her ass off with absentee ballots, and his campaign got a judge to throw out that election and order a new one. Voter fraud in St. Louis and elsewhere only gets addressed when black Democrats are the victims.

    RUSH:  So Michelle Obama’s in New Hampshire, and she’s commenting on Trump’s locker room talk, and she says, “It’s not locker room talk.  I don’t know men who talk that way.  Decent men do not talk that way.  What Trump was talking about was sexual assault,” she said.  “Donald Trump was acting out sexual assault, and it is intolerable.”  Something… You know, Trump said… If you go back to this audiotape, he said, “When you’re a celebrity, they let you do anything.”  How can there can be assault if somebody’s granting permission? 

    How can it be assault if they let you do anything?  But that’s a fine point.  The fine point is Trump… Men brag, and she is telling people that she doesn’t know men who brag.  You know the people that have been to the White House? How about some of the rappers that talk about their bitches and their hos have performed such lyrics in the White House?  But she doesn’t know men who talk and sing about sexual assault.  It’s all over hip-hop lyrics and has been for a while!

    So is assault on the police a feature of some hip-hop lyrics, and it’s been performed at the White House.  But she doesn’t know men who talk that way.  She doesn’t know decent guys who talk that way.  No.  She’s only invited them to the White House to perform and then bestowed great honors on which on them. And if you’re asking: No, she hasn’t had a comment on her husband parading around an airplane 2007 with an erection in front of a bunch of impressed female infobabes. She hasn’t commented on that. 

    And then she said… You know what else she said?  She said, “We need to elect Hillary Clinton because we need somebody to heal the wounds that divide us.”  Well, now, wait just in minute.  Wounds that divide us?  Why are there divisions in Barack Obama’s America?  Why are there wounds in Barack Obama’s America?  Why is there any healing necessary in Barack Obama’s America?  Whatever happened to hope and change?  What ever happened to postracial?  Whatever happened to postpartisan?  Whatever happened to all this? 

    So you mean we have racial wounds?

    We can only get started on that when Hillary waddles into the White House, the Oval Office?  By the way, conflicting stories about what goes on in locker rooms.  Aqib Talib is a cornerback for the Denver Broncos, played at the University of Kansas.  He’s also played New England, the Patriots, for Bill Belichick.  He’s now at Denver.  And on Tuesday he told the media in Denver that Trump, yeah, he might fit in in the Broncos locker room. Yeah, yeah, I recognize that. Yeah, we got guys that talk that way in the locker room. 

    You know, a lot of guys in professional sports locker rooms have multiple “baby mamas.” Are you aware of this?  Some of them have four or five “baby mamas” with eight or nine kids.  One was highlighted on HBO’s Hard Knocks.  He used to play for the New York Jets. (chuckles) You’re trying to tell us that this kind of talk doesn’t go on in the lock room?  I have been in major league sports locker rooms. 

    But it doesn’t matter because LeBron James — King LeBron — has weighed in on this and he says we don’t disrespect women.  “The authority on locker room talk…” Well, that’s how he’s heralded here in this story.  Where is this? Mediaite. “The authority on locker room talk, King LeBron, who recently endorsed Hillary, said, ‘That’s not locker room talk.  That’s trash talk.  We don’t disrespect women in no shape or form in our locker room.  That never comes up.  We don’t disrespect women in our locker room.'” That’s King LeBron.  I’m just telling you what he said out there.  You don’t believe him?

    I don’t know if it’s libel or not, but accusing Trump of sexual assault when he hasn’t done it? That’s the depths to which they are now stooping.  He was talking about sexual assault.  Remember, Hillary Clinton has defended it.

    Yeah, I guess Michelle Obama wasn’t there when the Reverend Wright was talking about Bill Clinton.  You remember what Reverend Wright said about Bill Clinton, Monica Lewinsky? “And Bill and Monica Lewinsky was riding dirty.  Yeah, chickens have come home to roost, baby.”  “Bill was riding dirty,” and the population, the congregation went nuts.

    But Michelle Obama says guys don’t talk that way.  I imagine children in the church asking, “Mommy? Mommy? What does ‘riding dirty’ mean?  What does it mean?”  “Bill Clinton does it, Son.  That you all you need to know.  Bill Clinton does it.  Rides ’em dirty.”

  21. Having forced myself, finally, to listen to nearly the whole of this oration by Trump, I remain mystified by the drama it has provoked here at Occidental Dissent. Mr. Wallace, our host, declares it “the most incredible speech” he has ever seen. One commenter observes, triumphally, that “when attacked [Trump] hits back even harder.” Another one expresses the hope that Trump “has a professional food taster working for him,” and a third one says that Trump’s “strength is unbelievable,” that the Jews “have got to be shitting bricks.”

    All of this excitement produced by forty-five minutes of Breitbartian boilerplate, including remarks about the plight of America’s blacks and Hispanics (two groups much-loved at this blog, I hardly need point out). In less than a month, we’ll know whether the Rust Belters and Southrons who powered Trump through a divided field to the Republican nomination have any political heft. Though I’m still rooting for Trump, nothing in this speech leads me to think the answer will be yes.
