Trump Takes a Hit on Kim Davis

By Hunter Wallace

As I said at the secession rally in Montgomery, this is why Trump won’t be able to “Make America Great Again”:

“Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he can see both sides in the case of Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk who has been ordered to jail for refusing to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, but that “the Supreme Court has ruled” on the issue and “it is the law of the land.”

“Well look — the decision came down from the Supreme Court … so I’m a believer in both sides of the picture,” Mr. Trump said Friday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “I would say the simple answer is let her clerks do it. Now, from what I understand, she’s not letting her clerks do it, either.”

In the end, even if Trump wins the 2016 election, the federal courts and the puppets in Congress will block his agenda. They won’t allow the border wall to be built. They won’t allow legal immigration to be reduced or the 30 million illegals here to be deported.

Alabama, for example, banned gay marriage and passed an anti-illegal immigration law. Federal judges threw out both. If federal judges and political puppets have the final say on every issue, then elections are meaningless and only a dictator can bring about change.

Beyond that, even if Trump wins, it won’t change the fact that Americans no longer share a common culture. This will produce more inevitable gridlock in Congress. Nothing will get accomplished.

  1. We need nullification and interposition before secession. Thomas Jefferson advocated the form in the Virginia and Kentucky Resolutions.

  2. Does Trump actually believe that it’s just illegals, terrorists and trade that have put him in a position to run on a campaign claiming that he will “Make America Great Again? What does he even mean by again? Does he mean the good old days when queers can marry, flaming homosexuals can parade around the streets half-naked, and chemically imbalanced, transgendered sissies can be appointed to government positions?

I’m predicting that Trump starts to slowly unravel at this point and cuck up badly. He’s no longer the “renegade” that will speak up for the silent majority against the predators and perverted scavengers who’ve been the undoing of this country. He’s just another cog in the machine.

I’m not religious and not usually one to defend those using their religious dogmas as a defense. But this isn’t really about religion, is it?

      • We should ride the wave.

By that I mean our approach should be, yes, political correctness is bad, yes, we should build a wall, yes, we should get rid of bad trade deals, but secession is the only way to accomplish any of that.

Get out in front of the issue. Trump is raising hopes and expectations. When the inevitable crash comes, we want people to see the system cannot be reformed.

  3. Sigh

It was inevitable that brash New Yorker Teump shoot from the hip would say something to enrage Southern Judeo X’tian Religious Right Bible folks.

It s best to try to change the subject, move on to other topics and just put out the truth, meme that Trump and Trump supporters will eventual come down on the side of regular folks in akentucky against abusive, dictatorial Judges who all went to Harvard and Yale. Trump will just choose to fight these arrogant $&@&$ Harvard and Yale judges on some other issues beside Gay rights, something like judges making up laws negating death penalty in Southern states for cop killers.

Don t let the Christian Zionists start getting air time pronouncing who is the only tru Christian après candidate in the race, they ll come down on the side of the huckster or Lyndsey Graham, plus we re sure to get Rapture End Times loons coming out real soon making the whole country think Southern people are wacko nut cases, too many are this way.

  4. “But, Donald, bottom line is, though, the Supreme Court makes a decision, that’s the law of the land, right?”

What else can you expect from liberals? They’re law-and-order fanatics.

  5. Politicians don’t lead. Now if there were a thousand Davises and many multiples in an army of nearly violent protesters behind them it would be seen differently

  6. What if the federal judges say you can’t have a border wall or a reduction in legal immigration or mass deportation? Are you just going to say “well, it’s the law of the land?”

We’ve been down that road in California, Arizona, Alabama and South Carolina. And that’s just with immigration.

  7. Trump, who often likes to tell us how smart he is, failed an opportunity to ask why this woman is going to jail, but those operating sanctuary cities are not hauled off to jail for contempt of the law?

Especially when it is right in his wheelhouse! This isn’t Middle Eastern military assessment, this is domestic politics!

It seems that when he met with the GOP inner circle prior to signing “the pledge” he was offered a path to victory if he cucks out.

  8. Trump did not dig himself a grave.

He has come out strongly on law and order issues. Wants to deport illegals. Against sanctuary cities. Won’t cave to BLM protesters and thugs in Baltimore and elsewhere.

How can he flip a switch and say that female clerk should not abide by the law?

He’d be pilloried to no end.

The problem is the Supreme Court and appointees to lower courts are filled with lefty activists and congress allows them to run rough shod.

Cuckabee isn’t going to to siphon many votes away from Trump because of this.

Unfortunately, the homo advocates have won.

Except for older folks like me, most people and especially younger ones are either pro queer or ambivalent.

When Tommy Thompson ran for Senate all the pundits thought he would win in a breeze because he was wildly popular and pretty successful as a governor years back.

The Democrats put up flaky, lefty dyke, Tammy Baldwin to run against him. She had zero accomplishments in her brief tenure as a representative in her congressional district.

But she was the flag bearer for queers,so she won.

    Unbelievable!

Shows how much attitudes were changed in a short period of time.

  9. Why haven’t the Feds sent troops to seize and arrest the legislatures of the states that legalised marijuana? Marijuana
is illegal according to Federal law, and Federal law trumps state law, as the Feds constantly remind us.

  10. Younger Sheldon Adelson becomes (((((adviser))))) to Trump.

For the record, I am not a fan of businesses that profit off of degeneracy.

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2015-09-04/wynn-ing-casino-magnate-joins-trump-campaign

Steve Wynn was born Stephen Alan Weinberg in New Haven, Connecticut on January 27, 1942. His father, Michael, who ran a string of bingo parlors in the eastern United States, changed the family’s last name in 1946 from “Weinberg” to “Wynn” when Steve was six months old[7] “to avoid anti-Jewish discrimination”.[3]

  11. What if the federal judges say you can’t have a border wall or a reduction in legal immigration or mass deportation? Are you just going to say “well, it’s the law of the land?”

Precisely why I don’t trust Trump to actually follow through with any of his campaign rhetoric. It’s all political leverage to him. Once he’s in the driver’s seat, everything goes back to business as usual.

  12. Huckabee blows away Trump.

Trump acts like he doesn’t have a clue.

Hope Huckabee jumps to number 1 to scare the crap out of him…

  13. The explanation is simple. Trump doesn’t care about marriage licenses. Most likely reason is that marriage in the U.S. has effectively been a dead institution since the 1960’s. Who wants to be the man paying thru his nose to the divorce industry when he’s not rich and politically connected?

Trump is more likely to direct his Cæsarism against the federal judges on topics Trump cares about. And that topic is most certainly not the dead institution of marriage.

  14. Don’t make this any harder than it is.

    1. Trump is a social liberal at heart, but he probably doesn’t like what being done to Kim Davis. That’s why his statement is equivocatory.

    2. I highly doubt this will affect his poll numbers. Virtually everyone who supports both Trump and Kim Davis knows that she’d be in the same fix she’s in even if any of the other 16 Republicans were President. So if it’s a matter of Kim Davis facing these problems no matter who you vote for, you might as well vote for the candidate that advocates some semblance of immigration patriotism and economic nationalism.

David Brody of CBN had a piece a few weeks ago about why so many evangelical Christians support Trump in spite of Trump making it plain as day that he’s not one of them, and in spite of the abundant evidence that he’s not a social issue conservative. The reason is that social issue conservatives now realize that almost all Republican social issue conservatism is disingenuous campaign season vote grifting, nothing more. You vote for the Republicans who tout social issue conservatism, and you don’t get social issue conservatism once they win. So, now, in 2016, with them having realized that, realizing that they won’t get social issue conservatism no matter who they vote for, they’re changing focus to immigration and trade, meaning Trump.

  15. This is a tempest in a teapot. That woman is a harlot with 3 or four divorces and she cucked her first husband with the third and the second is raising the kids.

If the county clerk had real principles she would quit her cushy ZOG job instead of trying to have things both ways. The USA is a joke and most of its laws are bunk but this woman is exactly the same as the thousands of cops that refuse to enforce immigration law. Government workers need to enforce the law or the whole system goes to pot and we wind up with open borders and tyrants like Lincoln and his ideological bastard son, Obama.

  16. Faggot rights are wrong but fags did the right thing by fighting for what they think is right. We should learn that from them.

  17. Tamer of Savages
‘This is a tempest in a teapot. That woman is a harlot with 3 or four divorces and she cucked her first husband with the third and the second is raising the kids.’

    First I’ve heard of this.

    Anyone have a link?

If true her supporters will be dismayed.

  18. Adelson is poisonous because of his policies – invade the world, invite the world, regressive taxes to pay for it all.

I’m not sure which is more surprising – the fact that Trump has become the anti-Adelson on all of these issues, or the fact that his shady Jewish friends like Charles Kushner, Steve Wynn and maybe even Howard Stern are supporting his campaign! I never would have guessed this would happen. Maybe I’ve been wrong, maybe there is a chance for US citizens us to become one people after all.

Trump’s policies are similar to Eisenhower’s, and he is repeating Ike’s biggest mistake with this Kim Davis gaffe. Ike should have said “Justice Warren has made his decision, now let him enforce it.” Jim Crow would have collapsed even without Brown vs. Board of Education, but we wouldn’t have had this poisonous legacy of judicial legislation. As it is, Kim Davis is supporting the law of Kentucky, but Trump is siding with the Supreme Court’s unconstitutional usurpation of authority.

Since 2008, I’ve been convinced that the following American national conservative platform would indeed make America great again:

    1. Immigration moratorium.
    2. Non-interventionist foreign policy.
    3. Comprehensive tax reform: Simpler, lower, less regressive taxes, with no perverse incentives for trade deficits or financial bubbles. (Without mass immigration and world empire, we could cut taxes and still balance the budget.)
    4. Take the social issues out of national politics. Let state legislatures and referendums, not federal judges, decide.

Trump is solid on 1 and 3, better than all the other Republicans and most of the Democrats on 2, and a disaster on 4 – but like Hunter says, President Trump probably have a change of heart as soon as he starts to butt heads with the judges on immigration.

If Trump’s crusade to make the Republican Party the national conservative party of America fails, and I’m not convinced it will fail, the disappointment can be channeled into creating an independent, national conservative South, White identity politics in the rump USA based on Alain Soral’s concept of anti-Semitic rainbow coalition, and perhaps even an American Orania somewhere in the Northwest.

  19. One step at a time. Secession can’t happen until we build a wall. Freedom ain’t gonna happen until we purge the judiciary. Trump is not a Savior, he’s a businessman running for a political office, garnering HUGE support, and making everyone scurry like mindless rats.

To even START on ‘social issues’ in the candidate phase is death at this juncture. Let him get in, appoint a Moral Cabinet, and start the Reonstruction, and not one second before that point.

  20. Trump is the quintessential “New Netherlander”. He ain’t southern and can’t even fake it but he sure as hell isn’t a yankee either.

  21. Kim Davis isn’t the issue.

The issue is whether federal judges are the final authority on the scope of their own power. If Trump believes that is the case, then it doesn’t matter what he says or does on immigration.

The SPLC will just file lawsuits, which will go to some federal judge, and it will all end up like California’s Prop 187, Alabama’s HB 56, or Arizona’s SB 1070.

  22. “The issue is whether federal judges are the final authority on the scope of their own power.”

That’s the issue, Mr. W., only if you take America seriously. Even if Trump were to stop immigration, deport all the illegals, and make some changes to the tax code, America would be meaningless for whites. America is of the past, just another error, like all the other white errors, which have left a trail of ruins from the Ganges to the Rio Grande. Race and property: those are all.

  23. On the Davis incident, Huckabee and the husband of Kim Davis seem to be on top of the situation with the comments they have made. Trump doesn’t seem to mind federal judges forcing states who voted against pervert marriages to bow down to the federal government and ignore the will of the people who voted 75% in favor of traditional marriage. Hope Trump gets spanked in the polls for not standing up for the states who view homosexuality as a perverted sin — an abomination. Maybe Huckabee can surge for a while and make him at least think through a situation like this before he wimps out.

  24. If he means to do anything at all on birthright citizenship then he must confront the judiciary, These issues are all related.

But it does all come down to the fact that we don’t view each other as fellow countrymen, and as a result the oligarchs will be able to have their way on whatever issue they want.

  25. Hunter is again 100% right. I am saying right now I don’t know which path my brothers will pick but I am saying LET IT BURN. Do not buy into Trump or drink their kool aid. I would just vote third party or not at all, let their system die. We need our day of redemption.

  26. Why have a dictatorship by an infallible Supreme Court. The Supreme Court dictates what the law will be in the United States. Trump’s not stupid he knows that.

  27. Hunter is right on this issue. If Trump gives total authority to the courts, he will find that his presidency will be in vain. They will block his entire agenda.

If he truly wants to get anything done, he will have to battle and defeat the Supreme court.

  28. “…There is nothing to stay you. Your Constitution is all sail and no anchor. As I said before, when a society has entered on this downward progress, either civilization or liberty must perish. Either some Caesar or Napoleon will seize the reins of government with a strong hand; or your Republic will be as fearfully plundered and laid waste by barbarians in the twentieth century as the Roman Empire was in the fifth; with this difference, that the Huns and Vandals, who ravaged the Roman Empire, came from without, and that your Huns and Vandals will have been engendered within your country by your own institutions…”

    – Thomas Babington Macaulay (1800-1859), from a letter to Henry S. Randall, author of the Life of Jefferson.

I believe the proper “stay” Macaulay was actually referring to above is the unseen hand of God who would always protect us if we live by His commandments, statutes and judgments. We think we need to be progressive and falsely reason that if we just distance ourselves from teachings found in the Bible that we are being liberated from the chains that religion seems to put on all their adherents. But the real truth of the matter is that when an individual or a whole nation starts to break God’s law they become enslaved in their sins and this so-called liberty they so proudly proclaim to one another is just a one-night stand, a fleeting pleasure for the moment as they slide toward destruction and total oblivion.

I pray that God will set this woman free for daring to stand up against religious tyranny by a wicked overbearing Federal government upholding the “rights” of homosexuals which should be the ones in jail waiting for their execution or deportation.

    Free Kim Davis!

  29. And if a majority in Alabama were to vote for a referendum outlawing Occidental Dissent, on the ground that it is obnoxious, wouldn’t you expect a Federal court to invalidate that, as inconsistent with the First Amendment, Mr. W.?

  30. The Supreme Court decision only legalizes same sex marriage in your state if the citizens accept that the court has the authority to impose it. The people of KY should demand that all of their elected officials support Kim Davis and resist the court’s meddling in their state’s marriage laws. They should refuse to vote for any candidate that won’t do this. Let the courts try to arrest every elected official in the state.

  31. The United States of America as I said before was founded by a bunch of Deistic Anti-Jesus Freethinkers. Both Jefferson and Madison, ironically held high by Neo-Confederates like DiLorenzo were Unitarians the same bunch that spawned Secular Humanism. The States themselves were founded on Christianity.

The 1861 Confederate Constitution corrected this partly by invoking Almighty God but not Jesus Christ. Stonewall Jackson loudly condemned this oversight and Presbyterian Theologian James Henry Thornwell proposed a direct confession of Jesus Christ be included in the Constitution. Lincolns government was left with the flawed deistic 1787 Constitution and when the Radicals got the 14th Amendment passed, the Deistic 1787 document became the basis of the Secular USA. State endorsements of Christianity were voided by the 14th Amendment. We went from a Union of Christian States with a Deistic God Denying Constitution to a Dictatorship under a God Denying Deistic Constitution. The 1787 Document is not worth the paper its written on.

  32. I have to say I go along with Billy Ray Jenkins although Trump is enjoyable to watch when he handles the press. I notice more and more cuckservatism coming out of conservatives I thought maybe weren’t. Good comments.

  33. I think I’ve posted this information before but I’m not sure so…
You folks are all wrong about losing heart because of the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court can’t derail a damn thing if Congress decides differently. We just have to have a Congress with some balls. Look at this section of the Constitution. Congress decides on “what” the Supreme court can rule on.

    https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/articleiii

“…In all the other cases before mentioned, the Supreme Court shall have appellate jurisdiction, both as to law and fact, with such exceptions, and under such regulations as the Congress shall make…”

“…with such exceptions, and under such regulations as the Congress shall make…” The important part. The earlier part declares what powers the Justices have but it ends with control of these functions by Congress. Congress could tell them to butt out of any Homosexual marriage rulings. They could do that with with lots of stuff they keep ramming down our throats. They could be stuck with only deciding water rights cases between States if they push too hard to SJW the Constitution to death. It doesn’t take a super majority to do this. (Maybe rules could make it so but it shouldn’t). Congress could rule anything not directly listed and specified in the Constitution the Courts could NOT decide on and they would have to do exactly that by law. If they still said they could rule on these forbidden issues they could be impeached. For disobeying the law or even just because they don’t like them. How many Homo judges do you think they would have to impeach before the Judges got the message and backed off?

The idea that our founding Fathers were idiots is a common theme but as you can see they put lots of little controls in. They were smart cookies that saw very far into the future. That we’re not using the control we already have is hardly their fault.

  34. Sam, let’s go back to Brown vs. the Board of Education the Supreme Court threw out settled law, and it or the lower Federal Courts have done the same for the last 50 some years on all sorts of issues.

Look how easy it was for the Federal Court in California to throw out the popular will of the people to deny welfare to illegal aliens. Trump is kidding himself.

  35. Earl Butts,”Sam, let’s go back to Brown vs. the Board of Education the Supreme Court threw out settled law”.

Maybe but that’s not the same issue as the one I pointed out.
