    Prozium, continuing our discussion, technology (Black and white television) also has lead to collectivist movements such as national socialism, Marxism, and Italian Fascism. But this was during times of economic struggle. Color television (during the civil rights) was during the time of economic prosperity.

    The point I am making is that technology just accelerates the speed of change. But the direction of change is often economically determined. Depression = more collectivism. Prosperity = more individualism. Hitler operated in a depression, as did FDR. Libertarian Republican types gain power in times of economic strength.
