Simpsons Star Hank Azaria Apologizes To Every Indian For Voicing Apu

The Simpsons will be banned one day on the grounds of systematic racism like South Park, Friends, Flannery O’Connor and Gone With the Wind. Jokes will also be “hate crimes” in the progressive utopia. We won’t be allowed to laugh at anything edgier than John Oliver in the future.

“Hank Azaria says he feels the need to apologize to ‘every single Indian person in this country’ for voicing Apu in The Simpsons.

In an interview with the Armchair Expert podcast, Azaria has said the character show had contributed to ‘structural racism’ and that he hadn’t known any better during the nearly 30 years he voiced the character. 

When Apu was called out for promoting racist stereotypes in the 2017 documentary The Problem With Apu, Azaria and the show’s creators appeared to shrug off the criticism.

Addressing the controversy in an episode the following year, Lisa Simpson asks ‘what can you do’ when a character which had been beloved for decades had suddenly become politically incorrect.

However, Azaria, 54, says since then he has listened to the concerns of Indian-Americans and came to realize that Apu was a problem.

‘I needed to shut up… and listen and learn. And that took a while,’ he said. 

‘This was not a two-week process: I needed to educate myself a lot.’ …”

Gone With The Wind on HBO Max now includes a disclaimer and a prologue about “racism.” It is the equivalent of reading a copy of Mein Kampf now.

  8. I just went to a 7-11 this afternoon and guess what? The people who ran the store were from Hindustan. I guess it’s “offensive” to notice and comment on things now?

    There’s a hillbilly character on the Simpsons named Cletus. I think he’s based on HW. As far as I know there has been no “outcry” (only liberals and fags use that word unironically) about that character’s stereotypical portrayal of rural white Southerners. At any rate I don’t watch that show anymore. The same goes for South Park. Enough already!
