Axios: Trump Will Assert Control Over The Republican Party At CPAC

Look at me, Mitch.

I’m the establishment now.

Axios:

“In his first post-presidential appearance, Donald Trump plans to send the message next weekend that he is Republicans’ “presumptive 2024 nominee” with a vise grip on the party’s base, top Trump allies tell Axios.

What to watch: A longtime adviser called Trump’s speech a “show of force,” and said the message will be: “I may not have Twitter or the Oval Office, but I’m still in charge.” Payback is his chief obsession. …

Look for Trump to lay into “the swamp” and Beltway insiders in a big way.”

I’m of two minds on this.

First, while everyone knows what I think about Donald Trump, he is the lesser of two evils in the Republican Party. Remember, the reason we backed him so strongly in the first place in 2016 was because we wanted him to be a bulldozer who would demolish Conservatism, Inc. and the GOP establishment. This was what attracted us to Trump in 2016. We became disillusioned with him because HE DID NOT DO THIS. Instead, he embraced Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell and pushed their toxic agenda. It was a political albatross for Trump and the Republican Party which should have leaned into populism.

Second, if Trump wants to focus on electing an ideologically vetted Trumpist Congress now instead of just endorsing every True Cons establishment candidate (he endorsed Mitt Romney, Mitch McConnell and Ben Sasse), this would be a welcome change. He did not try to change the party in 2018 and 2020. At the same time, we know from experience in Alabama that Donald Trump has a knack for backing people who are not ideologically compatible with his agenda as when he went out of his way to destroy Jeff Sessions who could otherwise be in the Senate right now leading the fight against Neoliberal Joe’s immigration agenda.

So, what is it going to be? Is Trump going to back loyalists who are flatterers who mouth the right slogans or people who are actually ideologically on board with his agenda? The Trump presidency was a disaster because there weren’t enough of the latter in the White House and Congress. The 2020 campaign was a disaster because Jared Kushner was running it. Kushner is the ultimate example of someone who was loyal to Trump, but who had no clue what he was doing and was a massive political liability.

Note: I’m proud of all my takes in the archives. They have stood up well whether it was “monitoring the situation” on tech censorship or spending the political capital on tax cuts or getting bogged down on Paul Ryan’s unpopular health care bill or COVID or conspiratards and “Stop the Steal.”

  1. What does Trump want?

1)bomb Iran with a tactical nuclear weapon

2)Force millions of young NATIVE BORN WHITE WORKING CLASS MALES into direct competition with millions of YOUNG CHINESE LEGAL IMMIGRANT MALES…..AND MILLIONS OF HINDU LEGAL IMMIGRANT MALES…….for the scarce LIVING AND BREEDING SPACE within the borders of America…Trump has announced this quite a few times the past year…..even at Trump rallies….

Sounds like White Genocide to me…..

TRUMP is narcissistic filthy fucking cockroach….

  2. “people who are actually ideologically on board with his agenda?”

When will people finally admit that “Trump’s agenda” is the same as Jared Kushner’s agenda?

I know, I know – it hurts. It’s like when you’ve spent all that time an money on that one gal – bought her flowers and everything – but she’s not putting out for you, she’s putting out for that other guy – a real jerk.

Eventually you have to admit, Trump’s just not that into you.

Sure, he’ll let you buy him drinks, but he’s only putting out for his true love – Benjamin Netanyahu.

  3. So, am I supposed to be getting back on the Trump Train now?

Its only been a couple weeks since we were supposed to be happy Biden won and ended Trumpism. Wtf happened?

If he goes back to the 2016 talking points in his CPAC speech, he has no way to prove he is “our guy” again til the midterms.

That should give our chattering class of intellectuals and talking heads in the dissident right the chance to test the wind and decide who I’m supposed to misguidedly follow this election cycle.

    • NO.

Biden winning had the positive effect on Trump supporters that we anticipated. We will continue to monitor the situation. Right now, it makes sense to stay disengaged. If Trump actually moves the party in a positive direction, we will see.

BTW, it is important not to oppose everything Trump says or does because we dislike Trump. We thought it was a great idea when he proposed the $2,000. It moved the politics on that issue. That was a step in the right direction.

      • “important not to oppose everything Trump says or does because we dislike Trump. We thought it was a great idea when he proposed the $2,000. It moved the politics on that issue. That was a step in the right direction”:

$2000 is a mere drop, compared to a bucket of theft from the working class, a mere, meaningless gesture that some are satisfied with who aren’t really suffering, yet.

How do you know Trump proposed it? Where do Presidential policy proposals, and decisions originate? Presidents’ “original” ideas are really corporate lobby and think tank ideas, and Presidential executive orders might be called CORPORATE executive’s orders.

  4. “Trump is the lesser of 2 evils…”

HW is…at it again. Fact is,

the downfall of White ‘Murkans reached terminal velocity during the Trump regime.

and will continue no matter what element of the Zionist Uniparty is in the saddle.

  5. If the distance between evil and the lesser evil is far smaller than both are from anything approaching ideal, that is not a choice.

  6. Dump will bleat his 2016 lies one more time, rail against them ol’ “Swampers” like McConjob, Magic Drawers Mitt ‘n’ Sasse, and rile up his shithead nuthuggers into a baseless frenzy of joy

YAWWWNN…Wake me when we see some actual pro-White results.

And Kushnah knew exactly what he was doing: diverting Orange jewdas away from honoring his word to his in-the-bag base and toward giving the kikes who hated & ultimately shitcanned him everything in their wildest dreams.

  7. It’s time to bring back “facepalm” gifs.

Trump intentionally campaigned as a populist, then governed as a non-populist. It wasn’t an accident.

The donors and Israel were happy and the rubes ate it up, while getting less than nothing.

It’s true that Trump rebranded the GOP and gave it a new strategy for getting elected.

But he did not fundamentally change it. It exists to serve the donors and Israel and to prevent an authentic form of nationalism from arising.

Trumpism is the new, more effective method of carrying out those nefarious goals.

If you can’t recognize it as a rival that you need to compete with, well, it will keep outcompeting you and getting you to work for it, for free.
