The Legacy of Rush Limbaugh

In the midst of Rush Limbaugh’s death (or that of any political figure), I think it’s important to not get sucked in to either of the two echo-chambers that can both give off a false impression of someone and their legacy.

So let’s sift through all the fawning from conservatives and petty snide remarks from many on the left. What was Rush Limbaugh’s legacy? Let’s look at his record objectively. He went from calling Iraq War critics “Phony Soldiers” (he later claimed he was just referencing one man who falsely claimed to have served) to then years later claiming that the weapons of mass destruction myth was a “setup against George Bush.” He defended Reaganomics and warned his listeners about socialism during an era when unchecked global capitalism has been a wrecking ball to America’s heartland. Rush was eager to defend Republicans against charges of racism and was quick to point out that the Democrats were the party of the KKK. Cheap racism against NFL players or promoting the birther conspiracy theory regarding Barack HUSSEIN Obama.

I think it is pretty clear that he was nothing more than a GOP mouthpiece who simply was good at selling whatever brand of conservatism they were running with to millions of White Americans. Any self-proclaimed populist or nationalist who regards him as a fighter for regular Americans is either unaware, lying, or not really a nationalist.

    • Rush was inordinately concerned with his vast fortune, it was never big enough and he was afraid of being robbed by of it “socialism”. The great “free market” was his religion, that is why he hated criticism of capitalism no matter its excesses. Rush was stuffed full of shit.

  1. Limbaugh regurgitated Modern Conservative Republican talking points to Boomers as they babysat their mixed-race grandchildren.

    • Yes, a truly perfect description. He was the epitome of conservatism: He conserved absolutely nothing, not even the damned ladies’ room. He either never got it through his boomer-brain that usury-racketeering was not a “free market”. The reality is that “socialism in one country” is far less dangerous to a nation or a people than globo-pedo “free-markets” are. It was beyond the half-brain tied behind his back to understand that there is nothing free about a rigged market.

  2. All Rush cared about was making his millions and pandering to boomer conservatives. When it came to Whites being displaced in their own nation, he could care less.

  3. The Conservatives, Republicans, Liberals, and everybody in politics spend more time talking about partisan junk and pointing fingers instead of getting things done for We The People. We make up the country together. He was just like the rest of them. No loss for anybody. We Must Retake Everything! Deo Vindice !

  4. Tax cuts for the rich, deregulation of big business, bailouts for Wall Street, nonstop legal immigration to drive down the cost of domestic labor, endless wars for Israel – Limbaugh promoted absolutely NOTHING that benefited white middle and working class Americans. He was not a good man, at least not from what I saw. But at least his gold-digging fourth wife will inherit enough so that she and her brown cabana boy(s) can enjoy themselves in Cancún.

    • I didn’t like that he would always talk about his home life with his trophy wife 26 years his junior with the “last night me and Kathryn were sitting on the coach…” as if his marriage was as wholesome as too high school sweethearts celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. With blatant gold digger type marriages it seems creepy, not quite as bad as “gay marriage” but starting to head in that direction. You just don’t flaunt them, Johnny Carson never flaunted his gold diggers to his audience, you only read about them in the “Carson Fleeced in Yet Another Divorce” articles in the tabloids.

Limbaugh’s hostility to the left was enjoyable and funny. But he had way too much money to relate to how bad Conservatism INC. was for the average working American. When he’d rant on about how bad the minimum wage was or how everyone should just pay for their own health care I’d turn the dial.

      • I turned him off 10 years ago, (same with Hannity )for the same similar reasons. I went back to listening to classic R&R. Rush like Hannity became a broken record with his constant Republican talking points. Anytime someone called and got through his call screeners and mentioned jews and the displacement of Whites, he was very short of hung up. I knew than he was just another gatekeeper.

  5. Limbaugh was one who actually helped shrink the “Overton window,” thus he could become a star: “The managers of empire do not work to crush and silence all dissent (…) They are much more clever than that. In a society that maintains the illusion of freedom in order to prevent outrage and revolution, it does not serve rulers to stifle all dissent. Just the opposite in fact: their interests are served by having a small number of dissidents hanging around the fringes of society creating the illusion of freedom. If Johnny Hempshirt over there is allowed to stand on a soapbox and criticize the US war machine, then the US must be a free country. So they don’t work to silence all dissent. What they do is work to make sure that dissent never hits a critical mass and goes mainstream. That’s their sweet spot. That’s what the entire imperial propaganda engine is geared toward accomplishing. Not to eliminate socialist and anti-imperialist voices, but to make sure they never attain enough influence to be politically consequential. This is why you rarely see anyone who opposes the empire platformed on mainstream media. The imperial narrative managers work to shrink the Overton window of acceptable debate to get people arguing about how best to support imperial interests, rather than arguing about whether those interests should be supported or whether there should be an empire at all”: https://niqnaq.wordpress.com/2021/02/20/i-know-they-just-wanna-make-it-small-enough-so-they-can-drown-it-in-the-bathtub/

This. Cuck Fatboy was the originator of the “Democrats are the real racists” meme.

  7. I think the best that could be said about Limbaugh is that he was probably better than the pipsqueak super billionaires, like the Silicon Valley crowd. You would think that at least one of these ‘guys’ could get some kind of a grip, but no. It’s like the creepiest, nerdiest guys from high school are now the richest men in the country, but they’re just as stupid and just as weird as they were when they were teenagers.
