I'm stepping away for a few weeks to take a summer vacation.

Over the course of 2019-2020, I have been writing at a pretty ferocious pace. I have probably written more articles over the past year than ever before here and I have been writing in this space for over a decade now. I've had a lot to say about any number of subjects from current events to history to politics, but I need to unplug for a while and rest. This is normally the time of year when I take a break.

We've got the home stretch of the 2020 election coming up. We've got the inevitable fallout from the election to cover. Regardless of who wins in November, the losing side is going to lose their minds and see the winner as illegitimate. There is already heated talk of a "civil war." We don't know what will happen with COVID-19 in the fall and winter during actual flu season. We don't know if the BLM and Antifa rioting and violence will continue to escalate through and after the election. We've also got the federal Charlottesville lawsuit which should be going to trial in the fall. The bottom line is that the last four months of 2020 are going to be action packed and likely historic in more ways than one. It makes sense to take a break now in the dog days of summer before the pace of events picks up in the fall.

A year ago, I had imagined this website would be a refuge from the stupidity of the 2020 election, which I had expected would be a rather boring affair. It will suffice to say that no one anticipated how bad it would get it in 2020 or how rapidly things would deteriorate. This is the first year in my lifetime when I am not only anxious, but wary of how this year could end. We're strapped in for a roller coaster ride. We have no idea where it is going to take us.

If you enjoy this website and support our work and would like to see us continue, please consider sending us a donation to help replenish our coffers and cover our expenses. I would like to personally thank some of you who have recently contributed. It has helped us a great deal. As I said last year, one of our biggest annual expenses is private school tuition for our son. I'm still not sure what is going to come of that in the fall because of COVID, but we have him enrolled in his class. I have spent a lot of my time building and maintaining this stable and productive platform out of sheer idealism and it would be a big help to us if we could again raise $4,000 to offset the cost of his annual tuition. It would be one less thing that we have to worry about in this household and one more reason to justify spending more of my time here doing both what I love and I am good at.

Occidental Dissent will return to regular posting in a week or two. Thanks for your support.
