Spoiler Free Review: Star Trek: Picard (Episode 1)

I was pleasantly surprised.

After chiming in on this the other day, I decided to watch the first episode. It has been nearly twenty years since we last saw Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Nemesis. The debut episode didn’t strike me as being any better or worse than TNG, DS9, Voyager or Enterprise. It was certainly better than Star Trek: Discovery and the last three Star Trek movies.

There was nothing about the first episode which struck me as being either out of character for Captain Picard or a break with the Star Trek universe. The first episode and the story it sets up is firmly grounded in the events of TNG, Nemesis and Star Trek (2009). Anyway, I just wanted to say that I didn’t think it was as bad as some people thought it would be. This could easily change though as the rest of the cast is introduced. For now at least, it seemed like a new Star Trek series rather than something fundamentally different like Discovery or the last three movies.

What did you think?

  1. You should go see 1917, HW. My only complaint is that the Germans (or “Huns”) were portrayed as nothing but an enemy that had to be killed.

    • That is exactly why I will not give any money to see it. They should make a movie about the Christmas truce, which was initiated by those inhuman German monsters.

      • I saw “1917” last night, and didn’t pay one $hekel to see it.

Great cinematography and production design. Like Spahn wrote, this film dehumanized the Germans. F*ck the Engländers!

  2. Who the hell cares?

Stewart is almost 80!? I don’t want to see a high-voiced, testosterone-reduced octagenarian pretending to be the 24th century re-do of what? Indiana Jones?!?

It was bad enough to watch Harrison Ford mincing his way across the rafters of the roof in “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”, simply because he’s too old to do the ‘fancy footwork’ any more.

As one website noted, a) Sean Connery was offered a chance to reprise his role of Indiana’s father, but he refused, saying “retirement is just too damned much fun”. At 80-plus, I’d rather watch Connery, than Ford. But Connery at least acknowledges the reality of being an OLD MAN!
    b) To justify the aging of Harrison Ford, the events of the movie were shown to have happened 19 years after The Last Crusade. Coincidentally, the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released 19 years after The Last Crusade.”

(And for the Juden, not keeping alive the ‘specter of the Nazis’ must have been a HARD choice to make. but hey, we have the Commies (even though they are/were a Jewish ideology, no ‘goy’ knows that anymore- just look at the whole ‘Russian collusion’ thing the Dems have been milking for the last three years!)

Stewart (like Ford) is no longer a ‘leading man’ character (even if Ford is still -in his dementia as an almost Alzheimer’s patient- thinking he is- https://www.thewrap.com/harrison-ford-indiana-jones/ )

And what the efff is it with all these JEWS in the J-MEdia!? [“His father was of Irish and German ancestry, while his maternal grandparents were Jewish emigrants from Minsk, Belarus.”] – https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000148/

I am SO OVER looking at non-White faces pretending to act, only to have to settle for the UGLINESS of Jews getting long in the tooth! When even Luke Skywalker disses the force, I said, ‘To Hell with all of these ‘franchise’ attempts to re-live the glory days of my early 20’s and 30’s. Better to watch Grace Kelly in “Rear Window” or “To Catch a Thief” for the 14th time, than to go to some Mischling mischief CGI-phoney baloney ‘re-do’ of ANYTHING from twenty years ago…..

    • Fr. John,

My family watched Rear Window a few months ago. Perry Mason was the bad guy in the movie. A very good movie. I have never heard of To Catch A thief movie.

  3. hmm, could have sworn I typed in occidentaldissent.com not therightstuff.biz… Who cares about this nerd/jew shit??

  4. Project Blue Book is decent, and is about as authentic as Star Trek. There are two things the History Channel does well. Ancient alien nonsense and Oak Island speculation.

“Do you mean to tell me you found extra-terrestrial alloy, King Solomon’s ring, a giant skeleton, and pirate gold down there?”

All that being said, they have been working with the whole Men In Black angle on Project Blue Book. That is the singlemost interesting angle regarding the UFO flap of the 1940s to the early 1960’s, the UFO are man-made. Between the electro-gravitics of T.T. Brown and the Repulscine engine of Schauberger. Anomalously advanced human research exists, it just gets dismissed as “pseudoscience” by Jew physicists then ends up on the History Channel as infotainment.

    Beats Star Wars though.

  5. Star Trek is the UN in space. It’s multiculturalist propaganda. “Picard” will be more of the same. Stewart has said that this show came out of his fears about Brexit and Trump. God save us from actors and their infantile, virtue-signaling politics.

    • It always was leftist propaganda. I quit watching Trek after TNG and becoming more aware overall. The shows that followed TNG were just corny and uninteresting. Abrams’ first movie still had propaganda, but it was at least entertaining.

  6. The last sci fi series I really enjoyed was Caprica (the Battlestar Galactica spin-off). Holy crap, that was ten years ago. I’ve watched some others since then, but I haven’t really been able to get into them.

  7. I wonder how yall feel about The Expanse series where The Earth is a unitary government united under the United Nations complete with space force that battles independent settlements on Mars as well as in the asteroid belt. Everybody appears to be slowly morphing into one Afroeurasian ethnicity and the Secretary General of the UN is head of Earth and in this case in a female Indian. (Not the Native-American kind) The “Belters” in the asteroid belt appear to be an anarchist collective and the Martian Congressional Republic appears to be Neo-Fascist albeit not racialist. While Caucasians still exist I notice Aryan types are rare and blonds and redheads appear all but extinct.
