The Fake News Media and their Democrat Partners are working hard to determine whether or not the future attack by terrorist Soleimani was “imminent” or not, & was my team in agreement. The answer to both is a strong YES., but it doesn’t really matter because of his horrible past!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 13, 2020
How could anyone be against killing a terrorist?— #ThePersistence (@ScottPresler) January 13, 2020
The democrat party cares more about apologizing for Iranian terrorists than protecting American citizens.
There was never any “imminent threat” to the United States. Soleimani was in Iraq on a diplomatic mission to reduce tensions with Saudi Arabia. There was nothing out of the ordinary about his schedule when Trump killed him with a Reaper drone.
Trump assassinated Soleimani to appease the neocons in the Senate, Netanyahu and his Jewish donors who have been pushing for a war with Iran. He was convinced that he could spin it as taking out an “evil terrorist” and that he would be praised for it like after the first Syria strike.
“WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump authorized the killing of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani seven months ago if Iran’s increased aggression resulted in the death of an American, according to five current and former senior administration officials.
The presidential directive in June came with the condition that Trump would have final signoff on any specific operation to kill Soleimani, officials said.
That decision explains why assassinating Soleimani was on the menu of options that the military presented to Trump two weeks ago for responding to an attack by Iranian proxies in Iraq, in which a U.S. contractor was killed and four U.S. service members were wounded, the officials said. …
After Iran shot down a U.S. drone in June, John Bolton, Trump’s national security adviser at the time, urged Trump to retaliate by signing off on an operation to kill Soleimani, officials said. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also wanted Trump to authorize the assassination, officials said. “
The reason that Trump said that Soleimani was preparing an “imminent” attack on four American embassies was because he needed a flimsy legal rationale to justify killing him as self-defense. This had been on his agenda though as far back as 2017. While there was no “imminent” threat from Iran (the attack on the U.S. military bases in Iraq is proof Iran didn’t want to escalate into a war with the United States), Trump’s impeachment trial in the Senate is imminent and he needed the support of Lindsey Graham, Marco Rubio and Tom Cotton to be acquitted.
