Netanyahu Fails To Form a Government

Will Bibi survive?

After two elections this year in Israel, it looks like Bibi’s luck may have run out. He has failed to form a new government and now the other guy, Benny Gantz, will be given a chance to form a government with the Arab parties which is opposed by 73% of Jewish Israelis.

BBC:

“Mr Netanyahu has been in power for the past decade but was unable to secure a majority after September’s elections failed to produce a clear winner.

His rival Benny Gantz of the Blue and White party is now likely to be invited to attempt to form a government.

Mr Netanyahu’s attempts to bring Mr Gantz’s party into government failed.

Announcing the decision to abandon his efforts, Mr Netanyahu said he had tried repeatedly to form a coalition government but had been rebuffed. …”

Could we lose Bibi and Trudeau in a single day?

Washington Examiner:

“Sen. Elizabeth Warren has threatened that as president she would consider cutting off U.S. aid to Israel if the country moves against a two-state solution, but last year, she condemned President Trump for cutting off aid to intransigent Palestinians.

On Saturday, the Democratic front-runner said regarding aid to Israel, “Right now, [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu says that he is going to take Israel in a direction of increasing settlements. That does not move us toward a two-state solution.”

She added, “It is the official policy of the United States of America to support a two-state solution, and if Israel is moving in the opposite direction, then everything is on the table.”

The phrase “all options are on the table” was frequently used by politicians as a way of saying they would consider military action to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon if other options failed. Now, here’s Warren taking that tone against a long-standing U.S. ally …”

In other news, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie Sanders and Buttplug have all endorsed cutting military aid to Israel in the event it tries to annex the West Bank. These are dark days for Sheldon Adelson who for all we know might not make it past 2020 himself due to his battle with cancer. Adelson staggered into his Republican Jewish Coalition event in April.

If Bibi goes down in flames and Adelson croaks, which is an increasingly likely scenario, the threat of a war with Iran in a Blompf second term would be much less likely.

  1. Gantz is Bibi II. And Warren, since she’s trying to get votes from the hardLeft dem primary electorate,

is taking a tough line with Israhell. As Prez, though,

    she’d bend the knee.

    same as all the others.

  2. Netanyahu may have failed to form a coalition government in Jerusalem, but he still has overwhelming support from the government in Washington, D.C.

    • Won’t we all be aurprised when he moves to the US and continues his political career? He has held US citizenship, renounced it twice (once to serve in the IDF amd again to hold public office in Israel), and it’s widely assumed he still hold dual US-Israeli citizenship. How do you like the sound of “Senator Netanyahu” or “Secretary of Defense Netanyahu”?
