Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson Suspended

Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson suspended … future of show in doubt

Louisiana

Here’s a link to the best article that I have read on the subject.

The producers of the ‘Duck Dynasty’ reality television show originally wanted it to be another anti-Southern and anti-Christian ‘Here Comes Honey Boo Boo’ or ‘Buckwild’ type of show.

They wanted Americans to laugh at a bunch of backwards Louisiana hillbillies who make duck calls and look down on their Christian values. These people didn’t expect the show to evolve into the monster cash cow that it would later become:

“This is what happened.  The whole idea of the show was to parade these nouveau riche Christian hillbillies around so that we could laugh at them. “Look at them,” we were supposed to say.  “Look how backward they are!  Look what they believe!  Can you believe they really live this way and believe this stuff?  See how they don’t fit in? HAHAHA”

When the producers saw the way the show was shaping up, different than they envisioned it, they tried to change course.  They tried to get the Robertson’s to tone down their Christianity, but to their eternal credit they refused.  They tried to add fake cussin’ to the show by inserting bleeps where no cussword was uttered.  At best, they wanted to make the Robertson’s look like crass buffoons. At worst they wanted them to look like hypocrites.

They desperately wanted us to laugh at the Robertsons.  Instead, we loved them.

A&E wanted us to point fingers at them and laugh at them.  But something else happened entirely.  Millions upon millions of people tuned in, not to laugh at them, but to laugh with them.

And then we pointed at them.  We pointed at them and said things like, “I wish my family was more like them.  I wish we prayed together as a family.  I wish we were together like the Robertsons.”

By the time this all happened, A&E had a conundrum.  They knew who the Robertsons were and what they believe and they still held it in disdain.  But they really liked the money.  Really liked the money. So they lived with it.

But the progressives whose bank accounts were not growing fatter because of these backward rubes were never inclined to look the other way.  They hate the show and they really hate the response to the show.  They want it destroyed. …”

  1. Agreed. Very similar to Dukes of Hazzard, or the Beverley Hilbilies or All in the Famiy. Problem is the audience likes the regular White folks in these shows.

  2. The family’s statement:

We want to thank all of you for your prayers and support. The family has spent much time in prayer since learning of A&E’s decision. We want you to know that first and foremost we are a family rooted in our faith in God and our belief that the Bible is His word. While some of Phil’s unfiltered comments to the reporter were coarse, his beliefs are grounded in the teachings of the Bible. Phil is a Godly man who follows what the Bible says are the greatest commandments: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart” and “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Phil would never incite or encourage hate.We are disappointed that Phil has been placed on hiatus for expressing his faith, which is his constitutionally protected right. We have had a successful working relationship with A&E but, as a family, we cannot imagine the show going forward without our patriarch at the helm. We are in discussions with A&E to see what that means for the future of Duck Dynasty. Again, thank you for your continued support of our family.

  3. This is an extraordinarily easy decision for the family: cease the show. “You can have our family as we come, or you can have a nice day.” Perhaps another network will pick them up…perhaps it won’t. But they are already wealthy, and A&E’s money is worth far less than their family and principles. I wish they would issue a statement expressing disappointment in the network and that they will no longer be working with them going forward.

  4. “I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person. Not once,” he said. “Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I’m with the blacks, because we’re white trash. We’re going across the field … They’re singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!… Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

  5. The NC Register isn’t the only Catholic organization standing with the Robertsons. The Church Militant TV. organization, headed up by Michael Voris, has come out for the Duck Dynasty folks bigtime. http://www.facebook.com/ChurchMilitant.TV Sadly many Catholics (and Protestants) are disagreeing on sodomy issue, and taking sides against Phil Robertson. In these strange days, sodomy is an issue that shows who is and who is not on the Lord’s side in Christianity.

  6. When a White Protestant like Phil Robertson cannot speak his mind, but, a Roman Catholic, a Jew, or other Pagan can, then something is very wrong in America!

  7. I can attest to the huge following this show has. A friend of mine was remotely involved with bringing the Duck Dynasty folk to the Upper Midwest. Tickets sold like hotcakes, and they filled one of those ‘mega-churches’ in a matter of days- days to sell out an over 4,000 seat ‘sanctuary.’

Moreover, it was to have been merely a ‘in house’ Christian sort of event, but the major radio and new stations picked it up, and the organizers were interviewed on the program.

Mind you, I say this of a liberal city (Mpls) in a liberal state (MN) that just signed ‘gay marriage crap’ into law. What this could mean, if they only FIGHT BACK, could be huge. I personally can’t abide how they look, and any expression of ‘hickishness’ in portraying the Church that gave us scholars, musicians, saints, and artists, but that’s just me.

  8. Silly me. I always thought that A & E stood for Arts and Entertainment. Guess it actually stands for Anal Entry.

  9. Maybe they could replace the show with another Oprah Winfrey show, or a Donahue, or a DeGenerate, or the black guy who has had ms or something forever.

  10. One suspects the numerous shows put out at once about the Amish could well prefigure their own little Waco. They start from the “extremes” and work their way into the mainstream. The worst thing that can happen to anyone, probably, is that t.v. notices them and wants a show about them, to make them fish food for public discourse, or worse.

A shame more people don’t WANT to think and feel, WANT to ponder things and form opinions, WANT to discuss things.

What do people who just wanted to hold this family up for ridicule— what do they COME from??? What manner of parenting, lol

  11. I no longer watch TV but hope I get a chance to watch this fine family. It sounds like they’ll stick to their beliefs and not back down.

  12. As of two months ago I didn’t know what “Duck Dynasty” was. Never seen it and I have no plans. ( I haven’t had a KOSHER BOX for over 12 years, when I moved out from my childhood home.) Although I see absolutely nothing wrong with what Mr. Robertson said, one has to ask his or herself. Why would a such a morally based family parlay their character against the Kosher mob. Especially when they have cutting, editing, and misconstruing facts to their advantage. These are the very same who have financed and led all those -ism movements. It would be very gratifying to see more young people break from their addiction to the “visual drug” and to occupy their time to something more productive in life. Every time you turn on the television YOU are supporting a mob that is out to destroy white civilization.

“I don’t see them backing down like Paula Deen.”

    Jr replies:

Not yet. But, I’ll bet you they do Hunter. The ego of being on TV is too much for almost all White Americans. Pat Buchanan backed down a lot to take a Black woman VP on his Reform Presidential ticket. Ron Paul backed down the full monty confessed to AIPAC lobbyist CNN talking head Wolf Blitzer that he didn’t write or even read his own racist. anti AIPAC comments in his 1980s newsletter, the Southern Avenger and the whole Rand Paul for President cult is sucking *&$# to MLK, Nelson Mandela.

Where’s Hank Williams Jr. these days? I bet he misses Monday Night Football.

I bet Duck Dynasty does Neo Con, “we don’t hate gays” sort of “sorry”, but not an apology.

  14. Phil should make a joint statement with the President of Uganda, who recently approved an anti-gay law. The gay issue and the race issue are not linked; no one seems to get that.

  15. What do you mean the “gay ISSUE” and the “race ISSUE” are not linked? Both were put into the public discourse as, you say, as ISSUES… and as politicized, instead of having the constitution be central. So, they are LINKED because they are “minorities” and have related cross-over advocacy and so on. Obviously.

  16. One does not need to be Abrahamic (the genus encompassing the species Judaism, Christianity, and Islam) to find homo-erotism, aut per os aut per anum aesthetically repugnant. As to the morals or lack thereof, of the question, I think anyone seriously concerned with group survival would at least have grave reservations about it.

Oh, yes, one must mention ancient Athens in this context: The classicist Sara Ruden, in her Paul among the People, tells us that “loose anus” was a heavy pejorative and insult in the Athens of Paul’s time, and that the reputation of Greek antiquity as a golden age for male homo-erotism (I do not buy into the subtext of the word “homosexuality.”) is a fallacy (phallosy?) traceable to Plato.

  17. Jesus predicted that just before His return as Judge, there will be a strange, dangerous fad – a spontaneous global steamroller notable for its speed, violence, and impudent in-your-face openness. In Luke 17 He called this worldwide craze the repeat of the “days of Lot” (see Genesis 19). By fulfilling this worldwide mania that’s secretly coordinated by unseen spirit beings, gays are really hurrying up Christ’s return and making the Bible even more believable!
They’ve actually invented strange architecture: closets opening not on to bedrooms but on to Main Streets where kids can see naked men having sex in “Madam” Nancy Pelosi’s San Francisco Brothel District. We wonder how soon S.F.’s underground saint – San Andreas – will get a 10-point jolt out of what goes on over his head (see the dire prediction about cities in Revelation 16:19, and Google “Obama Supports Public Depravity”).
What’s really scary is the “reprobate mind” phrase in Romans 1:28. A person can sear his conscience so much that God finally turns him over to S, the universal evil leader whose unseen agents can give a “possessed” person super-human strength that many cops with tasers have trouble subduing!
Remember, gays don’t have to stay bound to their slavery. Their emancipation is found in a 5-letter name starting with J – no, not James or Julia. As soon as they can find out the all-powerful J name, gays will really start living! (Google “God to Same-Sexers: Hurry Up,” “USA – from Puritans to Impure-itans,” and “The Background Obama Can’t Cover Up.”)
Was Jesus silent about gays? Google ” ‘Jesus Never Mentioned Homosexuality.’ When gays have birthdays….”

  18. I simply can’t stand watching any TV show that tries to cruelly make fun of people a la that singing show that purposely made fun of deluded no-talent people off the street who thought they could hold a tune. They changed it into more of a traditional talent show with contestants that could actually sing.

From what I understand the kike fudge-packing producers of Duck Dynasty aimed for that same condescension but it backfired on them as well when viewers found the Robertsons genuinely charming. I’ve never seen it though because I don’t get cable.

  19. They didn’t start out looking like a refugee from a hillbilly band, but the PRODUCERS (hear, “Jews”) suggested that, and the men went with it- but the ladies would have NOTHING to do with it.

Thus the look. The cachet. And the damn stupid Jews didn’t even know they were having their own playbook used against them – wise as serpents- until they saw how the Message of Christ was getting out on THEIR airtime, and R is correct.

[The] ‘…producers of Duck Dynasty aimed for that same condescension but it backfired on them as well when viewers found the Robertsons genuinely charming.”

But more than charming. They are this generation’s Fulton J. Sheen…. as it were.
(oh, the irony of it all…)

  20. Pink Floyd John Waters, from a leftie perspective named the Jew. He lived. It would be fascinating to see the Duck Dynasty family do something similar.

Going up against the lavender mafia was probably enough for the moment.

  21. His lucrative career on Talmudvision and his could-have-been Hollywood career are finished now that the evidence of his hate crime (preaching hatred of sin) is out there on Youtube and everywhere else, and can no longer be denied or overlooked by his mammon-worshipping handlers. Caught preaching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eyL1xha_1aU

In the sermon he says that sin and the effects of sin are the same worldwide.
